President’s Newsletter: August 2022
Dear BTS member
In my third President’s message I should like to update you on the venue for the 2023 BTS Congress and provide a short report of the outcome of the recent Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).
2023 BTS Congress. I should like to apologise to all BTS members for any confusion over the dates and venue for the 2023 BTS Annual Congress. I can now confirm that the 2023 BTS Congress will be held at the Park Regis Hotel, Birmingham on 17th-19th April 2023. More details will be made available on the BTS website.
EGM held on 29th June 2022. The purpose of this EGM was to agree the submitted BTS accounts, including re-appointing the Society’s auditors and to agree the proposed increases in membership fees. The members attending the online EGM meeting agreed to adopt the submitted Society accounts and to ratify the re-appointment of the Society’s auditors, SMH BullockWoodburn, for 2022/2023. In addition, the majority of the members present agreed to the proposed membership fee increases for January 2023 onwards which will be the first fee increase in four years. Members were informed of the new fee structure by email on 30th June 2022. The increase in membership fees will allow us to to maintain membership benefits such as awards, bursaries and grants, and to continue to subsidise the cost of our Annual Congress.
Finally, as I have stated already the BTS Committees are here to serve the membership and we are always open to receiving your suggestions for any changes that can be made including topics for scientific meetings.
