President’s Newsletter: January 2024
Dear BTS member
First of all a belated Happy New Year to you all. In this President’s message I should like to draw you attention to the 2024 BTS Annual Congress, to announce the recipient of the 2024 President’s Award and to confirm the venue and dates for the 2025 Annual Congress.
BTS Annual Congress. The Annual Congress this year will be held at Spaces at the Spine, Liverpool, L7 3FA from Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th April 2024. The programme for the 2024 Annual Congress includes a Continuing Education Programme session on endocrine disruption, nine symposia, a plenary lecture, an ASCEPT invitation lecture, BTS award lectures, a presentation on equality, diversity and inclusion, BTS Speciality Section round table discussion sessions, a Study Directors’ Workshop and poster and oral communications. Details of the Annual Congress programme, together with registration details and hotel accommodation information are available on the BTS website (https://www.thebts.org/). The deadline for early bird registration is midnight on 16th March 2024. As with last year, the symposia sessions will be recorded and the recordings will be available to BTS members after the Annual Congress. I hope to see many BTS members at the 2024 Annual Congress
President’s Award. The purpose of this award is to recognise a BTS member who has made a significant contribution to the Society. Full details of this award are available on the BTS Website (https://www.thebts.org/awards-bursaries/presidents-impact-award/). We received a number of applications for this award this year which were considered by the judging panel. I am delighted to inform you that the recipient of the 2024 BTS President’s Award is Dr Emma Barnes from Syngenta. Emma will receive her award at the Annual Congress in April and I am sure you will join me in congratulating Emma on this achievement.
2025 Annual Congress: Please note that the 2025 Annual Congress will be held at the Spaces at the Spine, Liverpool, L7 3FA from Wednesday 2nd April to Friday 4th April 2025.
Finally, as in my previous President’s messages I want to highlight that the BTS Executive Committee and its subcommittees are here to serve the BTS membership. We are always open to receiving your suggestions on how we can best serve our members, including topics for either scientific meetings or training opportunities. If you have any suggestions, please do get in touch with me via the Secretariat: bts@execbs.com.
Best wishes
Brian
